Welcome to the 2022 KSEA West Gulf Coast Regional Conference.
On behalf of the organizing committee, I would like to welcome you to the 16th annual Korean-American Bio-Medical Symposium (KABMS)/KSEA West Gulf Coast Regional Conference on Saturday, December 10th, 2022, in Houston, Texas. I am thrilled that this will be an in-person conference and look forward to seeing everyone again after two years.
The organizing committee prepared a dynamic, informative, and engaging program, including sessions on the latest scientific breakthroughs from our invited speakers and fellow attendees. We are delighted to have a keynote lecture from Dr. Peter Jay Hotez, an internationally-recognized physician-scientist in neglected tropical diseases and vaccine development. Dr. Hotez led efforts to develop a low-cost recombinant protein COVID vaccine for global health, resulting in emergency use authorization in India in 2021. We also invited industry representatives for a technical session on cutting-edge technologies in spatial omics and single-cell analysis to inspire new ideas and collaborations. Since the main goal of this conference is to connect our members to each other, especially after two years of isolation and virtual meetings, we scheduled rapid-fire faculty and trainee presentation sessions to involve as many researchers as possible to share their research interests. To add a little extra excitement to these sessions, all audience members will have opportunities to rate each presentation- so encourage all your friends and colleagues to attend! There will be real prizes for trainees and “fun” prizes for faculty presenters. We hope you will find this conference engaging and informative and it will serve as a springboard for many productive and meaningful collaborations, new ideation, and a chance to reconnect with old friends and colleagues. Importantly, we hope that it will be an occasion to share our love for science and engineering with fellow Korean American scientists and Engineers.
We hope you will all join us for this fun day of science and networking.
